The capital of Italy is Rome on the Tiber River in the central part of the country near the Tyrrhenian Sea. At an enclave within Rome there is Vatican City which serves as the seat of the papacy of the Roman Catholic Church and since 1929 it has been recognized as an independent state by the Italian government.
Rome has been known as the Eternal City, a title that was gained because of its importance as one of the greatest cities in Western civilization and as capital of the Roman Empire. As of 2007 the population of Rome was over two million with at least four million within the greater Rome area.

The main seaport and capital of Sweden is Stockholm. It is located on the eastern coast of the country at the point where Lake Malaren enters the Baltic Sea. Stockholm is built on about twenty islands and the nearby mainland is the largest city in the country. The major manufacturing markets include printed materials, electrical equipment, processed food, machinery, metal products, paper, chemicals, textiles and clothing. The city's economic base also comes from government operations, tourism and shipbuilding.

Madrid Travel Guide
The capital of Spain is Madrid and it is also the largest city. The city of Madrid is located within the historic New Castle region near the geographic center of the Iberian Peninsula. Madrid serves as the administrative, financial and transportation center for Spain. Madrid is well known for its famous historical landmarks, museums, active street life, broad boulevards and outdoor cafes.
While Madrid is as far north as New York City and Chicago is has a noticeably milder climate for most of the year. Because of the Gulf Stream the winters are fairly temperate. The warm ocean water along the western coast of Spain and Portugal heat the air and then the prevailing winds pull the air inland. Madrid rarely has anything more than a trace of snow. In January the average temperatures range from thirty-five to forty-seven degrees. Summers can be very hot in Madrid with average July temperatures between sixty-three and eighty-seven degrees. The evening's winds from the Sierra de Guadarrama Mountains often lessen the heat. There is an average of eighteen inches of rainfall per year. As of 2006 the population of Madrid was over three million.

The capital of the United Kingdom or Britain is London. It is located in southeastern England along the Thames River. London has a population of about seven million and it is by far the biggest city in Europe, a distinction it has had since seventeenth century. London remains a financial and cultural capital today.
The climate of London is typically mild and damp, but it can be erratic at times. The average rainfall is only thirty inches. Although the weather is almost always cloudy and rain can fall half the years of the year. In July the average temperature is about sixty-four degrees. During the summer months the temperature rarely goes over seventy-eight degrees. Winters are typically frosty and average forty degrees with lots of foggy days.

Paris Travel Guide
In north central France there is the famous city of Paris. This is the largest city in France and it is located along the Seine River about two hundred miles upstream from where the river empties into the English Channel. Paris is known the world over for its beauty and charm as well as its rich history of learning and knowledge. People travel to Paris from around the world to see their many monuments and museums, sample the delicious cuisine and relax at a sidewalk café or nightclub.
About fifteen percent of France's population lives in the Paris metropolitan area. The city enjoys a temperate climate which means in the summer the average temperature is sixty-eight degrees while in the winter the temperature averages forty-one degrees. Throughout the year the city only receives about twenty-six inches of precipitation.
