Airport Security and Screening of Passengers

{mosgoogle}

Airport security and screening procedures inplemented after September 11, 2001 have substantially increased the airport safety and security screening procedures of the flying public from what it was before September 11, 2001. Many travelers know that with this increase in flying safety and security comes frustration and long wait lines to get through airport security. From taking off your shoes to placing and liquids, pastes, gels, or aerosols over 90 ml /90 grams (100 ml /100 grams in Europe, U.K., and Canada) into a quart or liter plastic bag for carry on items, to not being allowed to carry nail clippers the airport security screening procedures have made us safer when flying yet have made it sometimes a miserable experience just getting to the airplane.

The advice for all flying travelers who want to pass through airport security and screening with no problems is to first educate yourself about policies and procedures. Use all available resources at your disposal to learn about the procedures and what is required of you when passing through these airport security and screening checkpoints. It can add to your frustration and your trip a miserable trip if you have problems at the airport security and screening checkpoints. Secondly, arrive at the airport two to three hours in advance of your flight to ensure there is plenty of time for check-in and passing through airport security and screening. It will add to your frustration, if you are running late, to show up at the airport and wait in a long check in line to get your tickets, check in checked baggage and then go to the airport security and sceening checkpoint to find 1,000 people in front of you waiting to pass through the airport security and screening checkpoint. Recapping, educate yourself about policies, procedures, and what you can cannot take with you on the plane and arrive early enough to check in and pass through airport security.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) in the U.S. has set up a website for the flying public to check for the average wait times to pass through airport security and screening. This website makes it easy for the savvy traveler to know the approximate wait time they can expect when arriving at the airport. When traveling in the U.S. Use this resource for your convenience but always ensure that you will have to time to pass through airport security and screening despite what the TSA wait time lists for the airport which you intend to use.
